An update on our Decontamination unit

Quadrant Dental Practice had hoped to have our decontamination unit up and running by now but this process has been hindered by one company Peacocks Ltd from Newcastle!!!!!

It has taken several phone calls to even get this crowd to connect the water supply to our washer disinfector unit (wdu)¬†which is an integral part of the decontamination process. The wdu now needs to be “commissioned” by this crowd a 4 hour process which despite many many phone calls to their head office they have singularly failed to do!

Quadrant Dental Practice are committed to improving the decontamination of instruments as soon as Peacocks get the finger out their ****!!!

New intra oral camera.

Quadrant Dental Practice has just fitted out our 5 surgeries with the latest in intra oral camera systems from Wright Dental. This will allow all our dentists and hygienists/therapists to demonstrate just what goes on inside your mouth. Mr McKie,s surgery has also been equipped with a 32 inch LCD HD flat screen for that really close up experience.

What we have learned recently

Mrs Bahrami recently attended a meeting hosted by the very innovative D2 Endo company.

Endo is short for endodontic the dental term for root treatment, and Mrs Bahrami whose MDSc encompassed this subject is looking forward to applying what she has learned on this course at the practice

Green tea is good for gums!

Researchers have found that regularly drinking green tea may help promote healthy teeth and gums. The study analysed the periodontal health of 940 men in Japan and found that those that regularly drank green tea had better periodontal health than those that did not.Periodontal disease is a chronic inflammatory disease that affects the gums and bone supporting the teeth, and has been associated with the progression of other diseases such as heart disease and diabetes

Green teas ability to help reduce symptoms of periodontal disease may be due to the presence of the antioxidant catechin.

“Periodontists believe that maintaining healthy gums is absolutely critical to maintaining a healthy body” says Dr David Cochrane ,DDS,PhD,President of the American Association of Periodontists
